Kari Voutilainen is one of the world’s most decorated independent watchmakers, working from his atelier in Môtiers, Switzerland. For Leijona, the Finnish brand behind his own first watch, he oversaw the making of the Heritage 1907 collection.
I led the creative direction for the collection’s launch assets. We travelled to his atelier to interview Kari and film him at work on the watches, and shot a series of hero photographs to capture their elegance. I styled the sets with the materials the watches are made of, in their raw form, creating a tension between the rough materials and the highly polished timepieces made from them.
